The table above lists every ship we track that is due in Nassau over the next 60 days, with the date, hours in port and the itinerary it belongs to. Right now that is 168 sailings by 46 different ships. Looking a full year ahead, 703 of the sailings in our database call at Nassau, spread across 64 ships and nine lines.
Traffic is steady year-round but peaks in winter. By departure month, February, March and December are the busiest; August and September are the quietest, with roughly half of February's calls. Several ships in on the same day is normal, so expect busier beaches and taxi ranks on those dates. To see where any of these ships is right now, open the live tracker.
Ships dock at Prince George Wharf on the north shore of New Providence island, directly in front of downtown Nassau. You walk off the ship, through the terminal building with its shops and information desks, and out onto Bay Street. There is no tender and no shuttle to arrange: the port is in town.
The US dollar is accepted everywhere alongside the Bahamian dollar, which is pegged one to one, so you do not need to change money. Taxis wait outside the terminal; agree the fare before you get in.
Our schedules list around eight hours in port for these calls, which is enough for one main activity plus a wander downtown.
Ship excursions in Nassau are mostly the same beach clubs, catamarans and island days you can book directly, with the cruise line's margin added. Booking independently, through the GetYourGuide card on this page, is usually cheaper, groups are often smaller, and many listings let you cancel free up to 24 hours before, which helps if the weather turns. See how this works line by line on our MSC excursions guide.
The ship's excursion buys one thing: the ship waits if its own tour runs late. With an independent booking it will not. In Nassau that risk is small because almost everything starts within a short ride of the pier, but leave a margin all the same.
Nassau is a pier port, so there is no tender queue at the end of the day. Aim to be back at the wharf at least an hour before all-aboard, more if you went to Paradise Island or Cable Beach, where traffic over the bridges and along the coast road builds in the afternoon.
Nassau runs on Eastern Time with the same daylight saving dates as the US, so it matches the Florida departure ports. If the ship's clock ever differs, the ship's time is the one that counts.
Disney Cruise Line has the most calls in our data (180 sailings on five ships, led by Disney Dream and Disney Wish), then Royal Caribbean with 155 sailings across 14 ships, including Utopia of the Seas. Carnival brings the widest fleet, 17 ships. Norwegian, MSC, Celebrity, Holland America, Princess and Virgin Voyages make up the rest.
Most of these are three- to five-night Bahamas trips from Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale or Miami, and longer Caribbean cruises also stop here. Search them all on Find a cruise.
Nassau often gets rated as a weaker port day: it is crowded when several ships are in, and on short cruises it sits next to a line's private island, which is built purely for passengers. What makes it good anyway is choice and access. You step off into a real capital with history, food and local life, can reach a beach on foot, and have a wide spread of independent boat trips within minutes of the pier. Pick a quieter day in the table above and Nassau can surprise you.
Nassau is one of the busiest cruise ports in the region. Our schedule data shows 168 sailings by 46 different ships calling there in the next 60 days, and 703 sailings by 64 ships over the coming 12 months, from nine cruise lines.
Most calls are day stops of around eight hours, which is what our schedules list for the ships we track. Check your own sailing in the table on this page, and remember that all-aboard is usually 30 to 60 minutes before departure.
Yes. Ships dock at Prince George Wharf, right on the edge of downtown, so Bay Street and the shops are a few minutes' walk away. Junkanoo Beach is a short walk west along the waterfront; Cable Beach and Paradise Island need a taxi, water taxi or bus.
Normally no. Nassau is a pier port: ships tie up alongside the wharf and you walk straight off. That makes it one of the easier ports for doing your own thing, because there is no tender queue on the way back.
Nassau uses Eastern Time and changes its clocks on the same dates as the US East Coast, so it matches Miami and Port Canaveral. Even so, always go by the all-aboard time printed in the ship's daily program.

Usually, yes. Independent tours of the same beach clubs, snorkel trips and island boat days tend to cost less than the ship's version, and many listings offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The trade-off is that the ship will not wait for you if an independent tour runs late.
